PM Narendra Modi longest speech in Lok Sabha
Prior to winning the trust vote, PM Narendra Modi replied to the no-confidence motion. While replying to each and every allegation raised by the Opposition in the last three days in Parliament, PM Modi made the longest speech in the history of Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Modi has broken the records of veteran leaders by speaking for 2 hours, 13 minutes and 52 seconds. Earlier on Wednesday, Home Minister Amit Shah had made a speech in the Lok Sabha for 2 hours and 13 minutes on Wednesday. This record of Amit Shah has also been broken by PM Narendra Modi.

Record breaking speech

PM Modi on Thursday broke former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri's record for the longest speech on a no-confidence motion by a PM. In 1965, the latter had spoken on the no-confidence motion for two hours and 12 minutes.

So, now PM Modi's speech has now become the longest-ever in a no-confidence motion debate.

The motion's notice was submitted by Gaurav Gogoi, a Congress MP, and received backing from all members of the INDIA bloc, with a combined representation of 144 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Furthermore, the motion advocated by Gogoi, who holds the position of Congress party's deputy leader in the Lower House, was also endorsed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Telangana CM KCR.

However, the Centre defeated it as the Opposition parties walked out of the House during Prime Minister's speech.
