Why different treatment?

In a democratic society, freedom of expression is a fundamental right essential for the functioning of a vibrant public discourse. However, this freedom comes with responsibilities, including the obligation to respect the sentiments of others and uphold social harmony. While individuals have the right to express their opinions, they must do so in a manner that promotes constructive dialogue rather than inciting hatred or division.
The situation underscores the complex dynamics of freedom of expression in India, where individuals like Wagle find themselves defending their right to critique government decisions while others face legal repercussions for their statements. The selective enforcement of laws further exacerbates these concerns, raising questions about the consistency and impartiality of law enforcement. As the debate continues, questions arise regarding where the line should be drawn between exercising free speech and preventing the spread of divisive or offensive rhetoric.
