Punjab: Anas Qureshi slits throat of Ekta multiple times, gets injured in an accident while escaping in victim’s car

Mohali, April 8: In a horrifying crime, a Hindu woman identfied as Ekta was allegedly stabbed to death by a Muslim man Anas Qureshi she was friends with early on Saturday, at her residence in Kharar town of Mohali district. As per reports, he entered her house on the intervening nights of 5th April and 6th April. Police said the accused met with an accident while trying to escape and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to the police, the incident took place early on Saturday at Sunny Enclave in Kharar when the accused, identified as Anas Qureshi (29), barged into the woman's residence while she was alone.

Reports suggest that the two had an argument, following which Qureshi stabbed the Hindu woman in neck with a sharp-edged weapon and fled the spot in the victim's Maruti Suzuki Celerio car. The incident came to the light after the victim did not answer repeated calls of her maternal uncle following which he went home to check but spotted her lying in pool of blood.
 
 

The family informed the police around 9.30 am following which a forensic team was also rushed to the spot to collect crucial evidence. Besides, the accused met with an accident near Shahbad and sustained multiple injuries including in the head, back, legs and arm as his condition is critical now.

According to the police, the deceased worked for a multinational company in Mohali and lived with her two brothers and mother. And the victim was in relationship with Anas Qureshi for four years, according to reports.

Apart from this, Kharar police have booked the accused under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police added.
