The wait and curiosity from the last three months that where the Vikram Lander on Chandrayaan 2 was lost, is now over. Indian scientist Shanmuga Subramanian, who works with NASA, today spotted the Vikram Lander at a point on lunar surface.
Accomplishing a dream with all its efforts and hard work paying off well, India’s ambitious Chandrayaan 2 mission slated ISRO vision of inscribing its name on the Moon. Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft was successfully launched on July 22, but unfortunately, the Vikram lander made a hard landing at the lunar surface on September 7, said the Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, in the parliament, confirming that with precise launch and orbital maneuvers, the mission life of the Orbiter is increased to 7 years
Although the Vikram Lander had a rough landing at the lunar surface, there’s no setback for ISRO’s Chandrayaan 2. In a latest, Chandrayaan-2 is imaging some never seen before pictures of the lunar surface and gathering vital information. The latest in the series is a 3D image of one of the Moon’s craters. The crater, located near Lindbergh, has -6.07 latitude and 53.40 longitude.
Replying to media’s query if ISRO would attempt another landing on Moon’s south pole, Sivan replied, “Definitely”. Attending the IIT-Delhi 50th Convocation ceremony, he said, “We want to demonstrate the technology for Vikram Lander landing, We are working on a plan of action about how to go ahead for Vikram Lander landing.”
Charm of Chandrayaan 2 is back as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has published the first image of the illuminated lunar surface. Captured by the Imaging Infrared Spectrometer (IIRS) payload, ISRO said that it has started spectroscopic studies on the surface of the Moon.
Believing in miracle, hopes and beliefs, India revived lost hopes by finding the Vikram Lander on lunar surface. Not giving up efforts, ISRO is trying its level best to spring Chandrayaan-2’s lander Vikram lying on the lunar surface back to life after a hard-landing more than three weeks ago.
Associating with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), NASA attempted to help the space agency find the Vikram Lander. NASA in a latest, released high-resolution images captured by its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) during its flyby of the lunar region where the Vikram Lander was scheduled for a soft landing. Informing about the condition of the Chandrayaan 2 orbiter, ISRO Chief K Sivan said that the orbiter is continuing to perform scheduled science experiments.
As per the latest update of ISRO, Chandrayaan-2 orbiter has spotted Vikram from above, and mission controllers continue to try establishing communications with the craft. To take another step in these continued efforts, NASA's LRO will fly over the site for more information.
Now, taking another step in this regards, NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will try to locate India’s Vikram lander on the moon during a flyover of the landing site Tuesday.
While congratulating ISRO, Namira Salim said, “the attempt to make a landing on the moon was itself a ‘giant leap’ for South Asia and as well as for the entire global space industry”.
As per the latest tweet, Chandrayaan 2's lander Vikram has been located on the moon's surface by the lunar orbiter. Giving new hope in this manner, today, ISRO stated, "all possible efforts were being made to re-establish contact".
Now, further in this crucial situation, ISRO, and Israel’s SpaceIL to team up for the next expedition of Lander Vikram who lost communication in lower lunar orbit. ISRO and SpaceIL are planning to exchange notes; because SpaceIL also lost her robotic lunar lander on April 2019.
