Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed the 'samapan pooja' of the annual Amarnath Yatra at Raj Bhawan on Friday (Aug 12) morning. Sinha prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the people amid chanting of religious hymns and mantras.
A cloudburst incident took place at the holy cave area of Amarnath on Friday (Jul 8 ) which resulted in a heavy discharge of water in the 'Nallah', adjoining the holy cave. The Army on Saturday informed that 15 people have died in the cloud burst incident.
Under the directions of Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and as per the directives of the Supreme Court, various initiatives have been taken to streamline the Amarnath Yatra for the devotees.
With just one day left for the Amarnath Yatra, the first batch of pilgrims reached Udhampur on Wednesday (Jun 29) morning. The yatris were welcomed by locals, PRI Members as well as officers of the District Administration.
According to the recent direction of Union ministry of Home Affairs, the Jammu and Kashmir administration will start helicopter service for the pilgrims directly from Srinagar to Panchtarni, the last stop point located at an elevation of 3,500 meters from where a six-kilometer trek takes pilgrims to the holy Amarnath cave.
The security forces are taking care that panic is not caused due to natural or any other threats during the yatra. The Rescue teams will be addressing all kinds of threats and will be first line of aid along the Jammu - Srinagar Highway during the Amarnath Yatra 2022.
The high level meeting chaired by the DGP deliberated on different issues of security camps, communication network, regulation of traffic management on the national highways and other roads, parking of vehicles and deployment of forces on both the Amarnath yatra routes of Pahalgam and Baltal and similar other subjects.
While the country is ideologically struggling on the leftist claims of Hindu dominance over Islamic minorities and violation of Muslim human rights, in yet another case of communal violence in Jammu and Kashmir, an Islamic terror outfit 'The Resistance Force' (TRF) has issued threat to attack the pilgrims coming for this year's Amarnath yatra that is to begin on Jun 30.
The second meeting that started soon after the first meet ended, was related the security of Amarnath Yatra, deployment of security personnel, threat analysis and other points linked to it. Chief Indian Army Gen Manoj Pande, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Gov Manoj Sinha, Intelligence Bureau Chief Arvind Kumar attended both the meetings.
The State administration is expecting around 8 lakh devotees for the Amarnath yatra this year that is to commence on Jun 30.
