In order to meet the qualitative requirements of the Indian Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO ) has developed lightweight Bullet Proof Jacket (BPJ) weighing 9.0 kilogram.
The Government has signed a major contract for procurement of over 1.86 lakh Bullet Proof Jackets (BPJs) for the Army under Make In India Initiative. The Defence Ministry, in a release said, these jackets have contemporary and state-of-the-art specifications with added protection level and coverage area. The impending requirement of the Indian Army for effective BPJs, has been met after successful conduct of stringent field evaluation trials.
The Indian forces guarding the frontiers internally and externally have undergone change in their appearing depending on the threat depending on the danger lurking them. However requirement of new uniforms for safety of the soldiers have always been taken into consideration. Special uniform are designed for soldiers working on the border and field areas.
