Congress trying to gain political advantage over Judges Row: BJP

New Delhi, January 13: Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of trying to take political mileage out of the controversy triggered by the press conference of four senior most judges of the Supreme Court.

Reacting to Congress’ remarks on the issue, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, this is an internal matter of the Supreme Court and no politics should be played. Patra also said the Congress was politicising internal matters of the judiciary.

“Under the Constitutional scheme of this country, the judiciary is independent and it has its own internal mechanisms,” BJP national spokesperson said.

The Congress had said, the observations made by the judges are extremely disturbing and have far reaching consequences for safeguarding democracy and preserving the independence of judiciary.

Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala demanded that the full bench of the apex court should take up the issues raised by the judges and find solutions.

Speaking to media, Congress President Rahul Gandhi demanded a demanded a detailed investigation into the death of Loya. He said that the obligations which were levelled by senior judges of the Supreme Court against Chief Justice of India (CJI) have 'far-reaching effects' for the democracy of India. One of the accused in the Loya's death case happens to be the President of BJP, Amit Shah.

In an unprecedented development on Friday, Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurien Joseph addressed the press claiming the administration of the Supreme Court is not in order. The judges said “unless this institution is preserved, democracy will not survive in this country”.
