Amit Shah on a three-day visit to J&K; to review law and order situation

It will be his maiden visit to the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370.

New Delhi, October 21: Amid ongoing violence in the valley, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah is visiting Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow to take stock of the law and order situation in the Union Territory.

 During his three-day visit, he will be holding meetings with LG Manoj Sinhan and officials of the Central Armed Police Forces. He will also address panchayat members as well as political workers. He is also going to review important projects, including the Prime Minister’s Development Package in Jammu and Kashmir.
 
It will be his maiden visit to the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370. It comes against the backdrop of the killings including of five migrant workers. The violence has forced many migrant workers to leave the Kashmir Valley.
 
 
 
In wake of the Shah's visit, authorities have heightened security measures across union territory. Security forces have also enhanced checking and frisking, especially in Srinagar.
Yesterday, Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and informed him about the steps taken by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. He also briefed the PM about other important issues related to internal security The meet was scheduled at Modi’s residence.
 
Earlier on Monday, Amit Shah discussed various security issues, including the recent killing of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, in a meeting with state police and central armed police forces chiefs. Shah chaired the concluding session of the National Security Strategies Conference at the Intelligence Bureau (IB) headquarters in New Delhi and the deliberations held were detailed and expansive.
