Big set back to Pak-sponsored narco-terrorism! Army recovers 30 kg of 'drug-like' substance along LoC

The officials said that the value of the suspected contraband is around Rs 20 - 25 crores in the black market.

Uri, October 04: Busting the major Pakistan-Afghanistan sponsored narcotic smuggling bid, Indian Amry sized the two bags containing 25-30 kg heroin-like substance in Jammu Kashmir near the line of control.
  
As per the reports, troops took this action following observing the suspicious movement around LOC after which they carried out search operation in the area.

"On Saturday, alert Indian troops deployed along the LoC in Uri sector in Baramulla district of north Kashmir observed some suspicious movement. Upon a search of the area, it was found that a contraband-like substance, most likely drugs, was dropped there," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat told reporters in Baramulla. He said the peddlers trying to smuggle the drugs into the Indian side of the LoC ran away after observing the movement of troops.
 
The Army said that the packages bore Pakistani markings. The exact nature of the heroin-like substance is being ascertained through concerned authorities. The officials said that the value of the suspected contraband is around Rs 20 - 25 crores in the black market.
 
 
 
“The legal proceedings have been initiated after the suspected recovered contraband was handed over to concerned police, Case FIR no 101 of PS Uri has been registered under relevant sections of the law,” the Army said.
 
 
“The huge drug haul along the Line of Control showcases the nefarious designs of Pakistan-based narco-terror nexus and its inimical intent to abet terrorism and finance terror in India. This drug bust is a huge setback to the Pakistan narco-terror nexus,” it added.
 
 
 
This drug haul in Uri Sector comes just days after one Pakistani origin terrorist was neutralized and another namely Ali Babar, resident of Okara, Pakistan captured alive, in Uri Sector in an extended search operation culminating on September 28.
