Ahmedabad, November 15: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has recovered 120 kg of heroin worth Rs 600 crores from Zinzuda village in Morbi. Further investigation is in the works on this case. 3 people were arrested in Zinzuda village, which is located near Navlakhi port - which is in the Gulf of Kutch, in an operation carried out by the ATS along with the local police.

The Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said, “Another achievement of Gujarat Police. Gujarat Police is leading from the front to eliminate the drugs. Gujarat ATS has nabbed around 120 kg of drugs.”
 
 
He also said that more details on this matter would be shared by the state Director General of Police later in the day.

This development comes just months after Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRIs) seized close to 3,000 kilograms of heroin which were worth around Rs. 21,000 crores from Mundra port in Kutch, back in September. These drugs were found being smuggled in 2 cargo containers declared as shipping semi-processed talc stones. The drugs were shipped from Afghanistan.

The contraband was exported by a Kandahar-based Hassan Hussain Limited and imported by Vijayawada-based Aashi Trading Company via Bandar Abbas Port, Iran to Gujarat.

The DRI also arrested a Chennai-based couple - Machavaram Sudhakaran and Durga P V Govindaraju. The NIA FIR named Machavaram Sudhakaran, Durga P V Govindaraju and Rajkumar P as accused.
