The order said that "a complaint has been made before the court under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to extortion and criminal conspiracy and the court is satisfied that the accused, i.e., Singh, has absconded or concealed himself to avoid the service of the warrant."

"Singh is required to appear before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Esplanade, Mumbai or investigating officer to answer the said complaint within 30 days," reads the order issued by the court.

This comes after Singh's counsel, Puneet Bali, on Monday informed the Supreme Court that the former is still in India. On Monday, his counsel informed the Supreme Court that Singh is in hiding since there is a grave threat to his life from the Mumbai Police. Additionally, he also remarked that the former Mumbai Police is willing to cooperate with the CBI even within a period of 48 hours. "The issue, however, is that there is a very genuine threat to his life as soon as he enters Maharashtra," Singh’s lawyer said.

Moreover, Param Bir Singh's lawyer had also shared transcripts of alleged WhatsApp messages in which Maharashtra DGP Sanjay Pandey asked Param Bir Singh to take back his allegations on NCP leader and former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Following hearing the case, the court has granted protection to Singh from arrest and asked him to join investigations into extortion charges against him.

Six cases of corruption and extortion were filed against Singh after he wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray leveling corruption and misconduct against the then Home Minister and senior NCP leader Anil Deshmukh.
