The IPL 2021 Auction did not miss to surprise or shock in any way, this year, too. Be it significant players getting unsold or few players getting auctioned at a very high price. Some players who have not played international cricket ended up being sold for big money at the IPL 2021 auction in Chennai on Thursday. And then there were surprising names that were bid were bid at a high price and turned into millionaires.

To begin with, South-African all-rounder Chris Morris became the costliest player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Thursday when Rajasthan Royals snapped him up for Rs 16.25 crore. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh was the costliest-ever buy in auction history as he was bought for Rs 16 crore by Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2015. Following the former India all-rounder are Pat Cummins (Rs 15.5 crore, 2020) and Ben Stokes (14.5 crore, 2017).

Secondly, it was Cheteshwar Pujara, the veteran red-ball specialist of India, who made his comeback to IPL when Chennai Super Kings roped him in for Rs 50 lakh in the IPL 2021 auction. After being bought by the MS Dhoni-led side, Pujara took to social media and posted a tweet with a caption: “Thank you for showing the faith. Look forward!”
