Reacting to the party’s victory, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah dedicated the party’s victory in Gujarat polls to the welfare work. “This victory is a victory of the unwavering faith of the people in the BJP governments headed by Prime Minister Shri Modi, dedicated to the development and welfare of the poor, farmers and villages. Modiji-led BJP governments are constantly committed to the welfare and development of the country’s poor, farmers and disadvantaged communities,” said Shah in a tweet in Gujarati.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani congratulated his party workers for their performance in the state's recent local body polls and said that the people of the state have wiped out the Congress party.

"In the results of district panchayats, taluka panchayats and municipalities, the saffron colour of Bharatiya Janata Party is flying all over Gujarat. The manner in which the people of Gujarat have wiped out Congress, with passion, shows that Gujarat has a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party," Rupani said in Gujarati.

"Ever since Narendra Modi ji became the Prime Minister, he has been helping Gujarat in the way nobody has done. On behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, I would like to thank the people of Gujarat for their love and support," he said.

He also congratulated the workers of BJP in the state and BJP State Chief CR Patil for their continuous efforts. Speaking about his opposition party, he said: "Congress is like a sinking boat. Gujarat's results have clearly shown this."

The Congress was expecting to improve its performance in the local bodies polls after facing a debacle in municipal corporation polls. However, the results did not favour the Congress and it has lost even in the panchayats where it was in the power.

A total of 58.82 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the municipalities, 65.80 per cent in the district panchayats and 66.60 per cent polling was in the taluka panchayats.
