MH CM should have checked the facts first! RSS was a weighty participant of India's freedom movement-

Well, I would like to start this with hailing my motherland, "Bharat Mata Ki Jay"! And also I want CM Uddhav Thackeray to recheck his facts on RSS after his remarks against the organisation on Wednesday, March 3. In an all-out blatant attack against the BJP, MH CM Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said the party’s parent organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), did not take part in the freedom struggle, and it cannot prove its patriotic credentials by chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai!

“The Shiv Sena did not exist during the freedom movement. But your (BJP) parent organisation (RSS) also did not take part in the freedom movement. So, patriotism cannot be proved by just saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. If you are not giving justice to the people after coming to power, then you do not have the right to say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’,” he said criticising the BJP on a range of issues- not bestowing the Bharat Ratna on V D Savarkar, increasing fuel prices, announcing a sudden lockdown and more.

It is clear now that the former ally of the BJP, the Shivsena, who before joining hands with the Congress for power, believed in the very same principles as of BJP, is now ready to do and can do anything to be in the position. What wrong does Shivsena see in saying 'Bharat Mata ki Jay', in actually believing that India, Bharat is and sould be above everything for every Indian? Thackeray seemingly tried to get the 4 year old matter surface again, pin-pointing BJP's Devendra Fadnavis for his statement back then. In one of the necessary wordly attacks to President of AIMIM, Asaduddin Owaisi who had denied to hail Mother Bharat, Devendra Fadnavis had said that anyone who retracted to say 'Bharat Mata ki Jay', who denied to respect India, had no right to stay in the country.

Further, Thackeray should've verified the facts before he noted that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was never a part of the Freedom Struggle. It is on February 12, 2021 that Rajya Sabha MP Prof Rakesh Sinha made a forceful appeal to the Vice-President and Chairman of the Upper House to develop Pusad as memorial of 1930 Jungle Satyagraha.

Mahatma Gandhi gave a call for launching 'Non-Cooperation and Civil Disobedience' movement to oust the British in 1930 and started the movement with world famous ‘Dandi March’ in Gujarat. In Vidarbha, which was a stronghold of the Congress party, people opted for ‘Jungle Satyagraha’ instead of ‘Salt Satyagraha’. And the historic ‘Jungle Satyagraha’ was offered at Pusad under the leadership of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and his colleagues.

Dr. Hedgewar was the former Secretary of the Vidarbha Provincial Congress Committee and founder and Adya Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which he had founded in 1925 at Nagpur. It was decided that the satyagraha would be offered on 21st July 1930 and on 14th July a large contingent of Satyagrahis started for Pusad from Nagpur under the leadership of Dr. Hedgewar. They reached Pusad via Wardha, Dhamangaon and Yavatmal. On the appointed day, i.e. on 21st July 1930 Dr. Hedgewar offered satyagraha alsong with 10000 other satyagrahis.

All of them were arrested and Dr. Hedgewar and other leaders were sentenced to one year RI. This satyagraha was more important from the fact that it injected a new life in the civil disobedience movement in its very first phase. Rallies and public meetings were organized all over Vidarbha region in support of Dr. Hedgewar and that assumably is enough to put Thackeray information to test.

Also in year 1999, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had issued a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 110th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter and founder of RSS Dr Hedgewar. It was the first instance in India's independence that a postage stamp of RSS leader was issued. On the occasion, the Prime Minister while addressing the gathering said that by issuing a postage stamp, his government had corrected an injustice whereby the great freedom fighetr and patriot Hedgewar was denied his due place in the history of Independent India.

Of late, political compulsions have made Left and so-called secular parties and now Shivsena (?) run malicious propaganda about RSSs' role in independence struggle and malign its sterling record of public service. RSS was wedded to the cause of Swaraj since its inception. Dr. Hedgewar's life and actions and the oath that swayamsevaks took clearly showed the commitment to freedom struggle. To convert this freedom into Swaraj, India required disciplined and brave spirited young men who would be dedicated to the national cause.

British records too clearly show that they were vary of RSS using its growing clout for independence struggle. There were endless dark nights in this twilight period, when RSS workers were the biggest organised force apart from security forces who put their lives to risk to salvage whatever they could, of destroyed lives of millions. It is for people of India and history to judge whether these acts of bravery were patriotic or communal.
