The Edhi Foundation conveyed the offer through a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the director of the Foundation, Faisal Edhi, who is also the son of late Abdul Sattar Edhi, the founder of the organization. According to the letter sent by the Foundation, it is mentioned that it wished to extend full support to Indian authorities without causing any inconvenience and would arrange all supplies that would be needed by any of its teams allowed to operate across the border.

The letter was sent to the Indian mission in Islamabad and read, “We are very sorry to hear about the exceptionally heavy impact that the pandemic has had on your country, where a tremendous number of people are suffering immensely. As a neighboring friend, we sympathize with you greatly and during this strenuous time, we would like to extend our help in the form of fleet of 50 ambulances along with our services to assist you in addressing, and further circumventing, the current health conditions.”

Although, many people are misinterpreting the foundation's assistance as the Pakistan govt's assistance, it is to be noted that the assistance is being provided by the Edhi Foundation on a personal level. The foundation is reputed of executing selfless social work across border. However, the Pakistan govt has yet not issued any official statement in this regard.
