Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra arrested in connection with ‘porn videos’ racket

Mumbai, July 20: Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday arrested Shilpa Shetty's husband and Businessman Raj Kundra for being the key conspirator in a case of producing pornographic films and pushing them through smartphone applications.

 

 

Police have booked the Kundra under sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of IPC besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

 

The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police had notably registered a case in this regard in February 2021. However, police registered a case against Kundra on July 19, 2021, after Kundra's name come up during the interrogation of the accused who were arrested.

 

 

 

 

Kundra was placed under arrest after he was called for questioning yesterday. Mumbai Police's Commissioner has said, "We have sufficient evidence regarding this. The investigation is in progress."

 

Apart from Kundra, the police have also arrested nine people related to the case.The matter came to light in February, when a woman approached Mumbai Police and accused Kundra of luring young men and women on the pretext of offering roles in web series and allegedly forcing them to make porn films instead.

 

The others arrested include Rowa Khan alias Yasmeen who is believed to be director-producer, photographer Monu Sharma and creative director Pratibha Nalawade along with and two actors, Arish Shaikh, and Bhanu Thakur.
