Following the Taliban confirmed the incident saying the US has conducted a second strike on the house. Zabihullah Mujahid said in a message to journalists that the strike targeted the bomber as he drove a vehicle loaded with explosives. In the airstrike, the US blew up a vehicle carrying multiple suicide bombers which were planning to target the ongoing American military evacuation at Kabul’s international airport.

The US Central Command spokesman Bill Urban, issued the statement, saying "US military forces conducted a self-defense unmanned over-the-horizon airstrike today on a vehicle in Kabul, eliminating an imminent ISIS-A threat to Hamad Karzai International airport."

"Significant secondary explosions from the vehicle indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosive material," the CENTCOM spokesman added.

The US took this action hours after President Biden warned that another attack at the airport could take place "in the next 24-36 hours". The US embassy in Kabul also released a warning of credible threats at specific areas of the airport, including access gates.
