New Delhi, September 10: The Union Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Prahlad Joshi congratulated Shivani, the first Excavation Engineer and Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) management under the Ministry of Coal.
He tweeted saying that he hopes this will open avenues for more female professionals to join the mining sector. The Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Smriti Irani too appreciated Shivani’s achievement.
Shivani Meena has now joined the Rajrappa project, which is a (mechanized) opencast mine in the Rajrappa in CCL, as an excavation engineer. This is truly extraordinary as Shivani is the very first female engineer in the Excavation cadre to be working in an open cast mine.

She is given the responsibility of Maintenance and Repair of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM). Rajrappa is an essential project of CCL.

Shivani is a native of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and has completed her engineering from IIT in Jodhpur. Shivani gives credits to her family for her success and states that it was their unwavering support that had inspired her.
