Covid update: 74 crore plus doses already provided to states and UTs

New Delhi, Sept15: The Union Government is dedicated to speeding up and broadening the scope of COVID-19 immunization across the country. The immunization campaign has been stepped up with the availability of additional vaccinations, advance awareness of vaccine availability to states and UTs for improved planning, and simplification of the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.

A press release released by the Ministry of Health cleared that So far, more than 74.25 crores (74,25,94,875) vaccine doses have been distributed to states/UTs through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and the direct state purchase category. Furthermore, more than 1.8 billion doses (1,80,83,000) are in the works.
 
More than 4.62Cr (4,62,75,955) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available for administration with the States/UTs.
