New Delhi, September 06: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailed the Himachal Pradesh government for vaccinating 100 percent of its eligible population. He said that Himachal Pradesh has come out as a champion in the fight against this once-in-a-century pandemic.
While interacting with the healthcare workers and beneficiaries of Himachal Pradesh through a virtual meeting, PM said that the state has given him an 'opportunity to be proud'. PM Modi further lauded the state government for ensuring that the first dose was administered to all eligible beneficiaries despite Himachal being a hill state.

"Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a champion. It became the first state to vaccinate 100 percent population of its eligible population with the first dose and one-third of the population with the second dose... Himachal Pradesh has given me an opportunity to be proud. I have seen the state struggling for basic facilities but today we see them doing well. I want to congratulate and thank the government and teams here," PM said in his virtual address.
He also praised people for not believing in any misinformation pertaining to Covid-19 vaccines. Prime Minister Modi concluded his speech by urging everyone to remain cautious against Covid-19 and strictly comply with “do gaj ki doori."
Himachal Pradesh has successfully covered its entire eligible population with the first dose of Covid vaccination. The efforts by the state included geographical prioritization to focus on difficult terrains, initiatives to ensure mass awareness, and door-to-door visits by ASHA workers, among others.
Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jairam Thakur also spoke on the occasion. Thakur promised that all beneficiaries in the state will be fully vaccinated by November 30.
