India-Bangladesh to release biopic on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in March 2022

New Delhi, Sept 7: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur met his Bangladeshi counterpart H.E. Dr. Hasan Mahmud to discuss matters of mutual interest and to strengthen the two countries' strong ties in areas of broadcasting and entertainment, strengthening people-to-people contact, and exploring new opportunities.

Thakur welcomed Mahmud and his team to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation. He praised the Indian government's proactive measures, complimenting, in particular,  PM Narendra Modi for his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.

According to Anurag Thakur, the production of the movie "Bangabandhu" about the life and times of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been completed to a significant extent, and "I expect the production to be over by March 2022, if the COVID situation permits so that the movie could be released internationally in March 2022."

"Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971" will also be produced as soon as possible. Other topics that came up included digital entertainment and mutual screenings of each other's country's movies.
 
 
 
 
A mutually agreed upon Action Plan will be developed and implemented for the celebration of "Maitri Diwas" on the 6th of December, 2021. To congratulate Bangladesh for its active engagement in IFFI 51 in January 2021, Shri Thakur requested the government of Bangladesh to participate again in the 52nd IFFI, which is scheduled for Goa, November 2021. In addition, both ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing cultural and inter-ethnic ties.
