Assam Rifles apprehends PLA terrorist in Manipur

Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police apprehended a terrorist of PLA from Andro Khuman Nungyungbi Leikai, Imphal East.

Dispur, Jan 13: The Assam Rifles apprehended a suspected People's Liberation Army (PLA) terrorist in Manipur, said the Assam Rifles on Thursday. 
 
The Assam Rifles stated that it has apprehended a suspected People's Liberation Army in the north-eastern state. On Tuesday, the Mantripukhri Battalion of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police apprehended a terrorist of PLA from Andro Khuman Nungyungbi Leikai, Imphal East.

The Assam Rifles tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "Assam Rifles apprehends a PLA terrorist in Manipur. Mantripukhri Battalion of #AssamRifles, on 11 Jan, in a joint operation with Manipur Police, apprehended a terrorist of PLA from Andro Khuman Nungyungbi Leikai, Imphal East, Manipur."
 
 
In November, a similar incident took place. Phundrei and Mantripukhri Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) in joint operations with Manipur Police apprehended two cadres of terrorist groups PLA and KCP in two separate operations in Thoubal and Imphal East on 14 November.

Based on specific inputs, troops of Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police launched these operations which led to the apprehensions. The KCP terrorist was involved in planting an IED at Khurai on 14 November.
 
 
The apprehended terrorists were handed over to Thoubal and Porompat Police Stations for further investigation. Notably, the two were apprehended days after an ambush near the Myanmar border in Manipur left five soldiers, including a colonel, his wife, and their eight-year-old son, dead. At that time, the Revolutionary People’s Front, a group under which the People’s Liberation Army Manipur operates, jointly claimed responsibility for the ambush along with the Manipur Naga People’s Front.
