Jahangirpuri Violence: Delhi Police team attacked; investigation continues on social media

Despite of an attack on the team in Jahangirpuri according to the Delhi police, the incident of bricks being thrown on the investigating team was an exaggeration of facts and that it was a minor, one-off incident.

New Delhi, Apr 18: Bricks were thrown on the team of Delhi police Crime Branch while they were probing the Jahangirpuri violence case, in C-block in Jahangirpuri. According to Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, social media is being monitored to curb further violence based on misinformation.

Despite of an attack on the team, according to the Delhi police, the incident of bricks being thrown on the investigating team was an exaggeration of facts and that it was a minor, one-off incident. One person has been detained in the same regards. Rapid Action Force and police have been deployed in the violence-hit Jahangirpuri area.
 
 
 
 
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has shared that the police are monitoring social media to curb the spread of misinformation in the wake of violence that erupted in the Jahangirpuri area. He also stated that strict action will be taken against culprits attempting to disturb the peace.
 
Recently, a letter petition was also filed before the CJI Justice NV Ramana by Advocate Amritpal Singh Khalsa about the Jahangirpuri violence and the nature of its investigation saying that, "Delhi Police investigation has so far been partial, communal and directly shielding perpetrators of the violence."
