Karnataka police arrest 30 Congress workers for planning protest ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Bengaluru, June 20: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Karnataka, Chikkamagalur Police detained 30 Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Kisan Cell workers for planning to protest against the Prime Minister in Bengaluru.

The KPCC workers were planning to ‘Gherao’ the PM. KPCC has announced protests against Agnipath Scheme across the state along with other organizations. A heavy Police force has been deployed in various parts of the state amid PM’s two-day visit.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Science. He will also inaugurate the Ambedkar School of Economics.PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for various railways and National Highway Authority of India-related programs.
 
"PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Bengaluru. We have made all necessary arrangements for the events. Senior officials are supervising the works," the Chief Minister said.
 
 
The Prime Minister would address a public meeting in Mysuru on Monday evening and would visit Suttur Math and Chamundi Hills the same evening, according to Bommai. "The Prime Minister will take part in the International Yoga Day event on the Mysuru Palace premises (on Tuesday). After that, he will leave for Thiruvananthapuram. We have made all the arrangements for the events," Bommai said.
