Chennai, June 28: Tearing his poster, AIADMK functionaries described O Panneersevlvam (OPS) as a symbol of betrayal, saying, his continuance as treasurer would be decided during the upcoming general council meeting scheduled for July 11.
The incident took place during a function led by Edappadi K Palaniswami. Senior AIADMK leader and former minister D Jayakumar gave the information about it. Jayakumar stated that OPS's name was removed as he had become a symbol of betrayal after opposing calls for single leadership. A similar incident happened at an AIADMK office in the neighbouring Union Territory of Puducherry as well.
This comes at the time when the Party's mouthpiece, Namdhu Amma, dropped the name of OPS as one of its founders, days after he was booted and sidelined at a general council meeting at Vanagaram. Speaking about it, Jayakumar said that OPS could not be part of the newspaper any longer.
On June 23, AIADMK general council meeting was held and during the event, the EPS faction members rejected all 23 resolutions which were to be heard and demanded that a single leadership resolution be added to the list of resolutions and a fresh special GC be called.
The newly appointed presidium chairman Tamil Magan Hussain announced that the GC will be held on July 11.
