Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai to get Z-category security, 33 CRPF commandos to provide cover

Chennai, January 13: The Ministry of Home Affairs, after an intelligence report, has decided to beef up the security for Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, Annamalai. Annamalai will be provided Z-category security and 33 commands will be deployed to protect him.
The Z-category security will be provided by the MHA, said sources. Annamalai was earlier provided Y-category protection. A group of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos will provide security cover for the Tamil Nadu BJP chief.

The Tamil Nadu BJP president was accorded Z-category security by the Home Ministry in view of heightened threat concerns. The former IPS officer and Tamil Nadu BJP chief had allegedly received threats from Maoists and religious extremists.
