NIA arrests PFI's ‘Reporter’ Mohammed Sadik for collecting information on non-Muslim leaders for ‘hit squad’

As per the agency, Sadik would hand over the information on non-Muslim targets to the ‘Hit Squad’, and based on the list, they would carry out the attacks.

Kollam, January 19: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) which is taking action against the banned radical Islamist organisation, Popular front of India, has now arrested its ‘reporter’ identified as Mohammed Sadik, who was assigned to collect details about the potential non-Muslim targets for PFI hit squads.

As per the reports, the central agency arrested him during the searches that were carried out on Tuesday from Kollam, Kerala. The officers reportedly confiscated crucial reports and digital evidence during the raid. Sadiq's travel records were also seized from the house, the news report said.

As per the agency, Sadik would hand over the information on non-Muslim targets to the ‘Hit Squad’, and based on the list, they would carry out the attacks.
 
 
 
“Investigation has revealed that the PFI had assigned the job of a ‘reporter’ to Sadik. A ‘reporter’ in the PFI system collects details about leaders of other communities for possible targeting by ‘hit squads’ of the PFI,” the spokesperson said.
 
 
As per NIA, a case was registered suo moto on September 19, 2022. During the investigation, it was found that he was working for the hit squad. He has also been accused of brainwashing needy people into working for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Islamic State (ISIS) and other terrorist organisations. The NIA said the conspiracy was to establish Islamic rule in India by committing terrorist acts as a part of ‘jihad’.
