Being Political Hindus in the West #11: a rock and a hard place for Hindus, Socially and Politically

The Left no longer talks of inclusion of all, it now has created ‘oppression Olympics where Hindus are at the very bottom of their priorities. This has forced the Hindus to Juxtapose the two and evaluate the difference at a microscopic level.

The Hindu community in the West is now going through a tumultuous period when it comes to their social and political existence. Hindus have traditionally supported the left-of-center parties in the West, who were talking about inclusion and diversity as opposed to the right-of-center parties, who were talking about religion, race, and culture.

Hindus Left-Right

Today, the situation has changed drastically. Both Hindus have shifted socially and politically as well as the left-of-center parties, who have also shifted on those parameters. The Left no longer talks of inclusion of all, it now has created ‘oppression Olympics where Hindus are at the very bottom of their priorities. This has forced the Hindus to Juxtapose the two and evaluate the difference at a microscopic level.

The Precedent

The Hindus have traditionally been the voters of the left-of-center parties in the West. The left-of-center parties were traditionally anti-imperialism, anti-racism, and anti-discrimination. These qualities of the Left attracted all the immigrants towards them including the Hindus. Their rhetoric of distribution of wealth also helped them get support among immigrants of all races, religions, and backgrounds.

The Jewish Community

But slowly this started to change. And when Wokeism gained momentum in the west in the last decade, the shift became rapid on the left. The fringes of the left started gaining support and the leftist in the center left were targeted as the rightist in the Leftist echo chambers. This resulted in the alienation of two traditionally left-of-center immigrant groups in many leftist countries. The Jewish community was alienated by the overt and enthusiastic support of Palestine by the Left. In the UK, US, Canada, and Australia this resulted in the Jewish community voting with the Right of center parties for the first time ever in large numbers. The Conservatives, the Republicans, the Conservative party, and the liberal party respectively benefited from this with votes as well as funding from the Jewish community. But as the momentum was gaining for this shift, the age-old elements lurking in the darkest shadows of the Western societies came out, and this released another wave of Anti-semitism in the West. Recently attacks on Synagogues, Anti-Semitic remarks, and othering of the Jews saw a rise. The Racist, White nationalist, and Christian nationalist elements of the Right Centre parties in all these countries Elected Representatives in some of those countries expressed these sentiments openly to stop the Jewish community from shifting away from the Left. Now the Jewish community is also stuck in a rock and a hard place between an Islamofascist, Anti-Semitic left and a Racist, Anti-Semitic Right.

The Hindu community is now going through a similar phase, although at a slower pace. The Left of center parties in the West have a much larger Islamic voter bank to cater to, which they appease by targeting the Hindus and India openly. ‘The SQUAD’ in the US, Jeremy Corbyn and numerous Labour MPs in the UK, the Prime Minister Himself in Canada, and a few local leaders of the Labour in Australia have all openly spoken against the Hindus and Indian interests. In all four of these countries again, the small Khalistani element among a large nationalist Sikh population is also being appeased by anti-India activities in those countries. The Hindus in the West have now become sufficiently prosperous to not be fooled by the rhetoric of Socialism, but the young Hindus are being fooled by the rhetoric of Wokeism. The Seattle city council Caste law, Toronto school board caste law, the Indian Embassy attack in London, Temples, and Hindus being attacked in Australia are all attacks from the Left and the Left-wing supporters.

The Hindus who have now slowly started shifting towards non-left parties, are also facing challenges from the other side. White Nationalism, Evangelical Christians, and Racists have started targeting the Hindus from the Right of center parties as well. The Racist slurs on Indians in Texas, and the Evangelical attacks on Hindus covertly and overtly have increased. These incidents although on a smaller scale, have a deep impact on the Hindus in the West, which restricts them from siding with the ‘Racist, Christian Nationalist, and White Nationalist people on a social as well as a political level.

The Hindus were abandoned by the Left when the Hindus became prosperous and started asserting their identity as Hindus. As long as Hindus were poor, not overtly Hindus, and dependent on the Left-wing parties, they were good Hindus. Once they became Prosperous and assertive, they became Casteist, Islamophobic Hindus. The Jewish and Hindu community in the West is today going through a very tough period with both parties being against their interests. The Jewish community with centuries of experience in the West is well-equipped and prepared to face this adversity. The Hindus, need to observe and learn from that community. But before any of that, they need to unite like the Jewish community in the West.
