In the last few articles, we saw how summer affects your appetite and thus your health. But to beat this cycle one can be smart with super easy and healthy summer recipes. Here we will see three such recipes which are full of goodness, easy to eat and easy on your stomach.

Summer Recipes

1. Salads: This is the most versatile recipe ever found. You can have it as a meal or snack or as a side dish. Playing with the ingredients you can turn it into protein focused, good fats rich or fiber rich dish. Here I will give you the summer protein rich version of salad.

Cucumber + Tomatoes + Any other summer salad vegetable+ Coriander + Cheese + Flaxseeds and Pumpkin seeds 2tsp + Paneer/ Tofu/ Chicken/ Fish cubes(quantity depends on whether you’re having it as a meal or snack) + Salt, Pepper & any other condiments of your choice/ green chilli/ chilli flakes.

Chop/ slice/ julienne the veggies, you can roast the seeds or have it raw, grate the cheese, cube the paneer/ tofu/ meat Mix it well -Add the condiments first then at last add the salt Cool it or have it as it is. *You can add or remove the ingredients as per availability.

2. Flavored water: Now for many summer means lots of juices and sherbets and fruit desserts but these are not that healthy since they are loaded with sugars then what is the alternate? Flavored water is the great way to stay hydrated and get that summer relief from fruity flavor that too without sugar. This is an interesting way to have enough water and also good for diabetics.

  • Take any juicy fruit like watermelon, oranges, mosambi, amla, lemon, etc. Do not take pulpy fruits. 

  • Cut these in big pieces after peeling 

  • take a water bottle add the pieces to it 

  • you can add some spices or fragrant for mild flavor

  • Add water and let it sit for about 2hrs

  • Use a strainer or best to use bottle with a strainer lid and keep sipping the water throughout the day to feel refreshed.

3. Fruit salad: I have this recipe with a healthy twist to it. Usually fruit salad is full of sugary fruits, added sugar, syrups and sweet crème making it a very unhealthy dessert. But my recipe is a healthier version than original. Some fruits are high in sugars but great with taste like mangoes, chikku, banana, strawberries etc. and thus these go into many dessert recipes. But here we will make fruit salad with well balanced ingredients. Let’s see
Choose any 1 juicy fruit (mentioned in last recipe), Take any 1 pulpy fruit like mango/ papaya/ etc. Take apple/ pear/ melon, have some crème cheese or Indian alternative is hung curd, sweetener (optional), black raisins, 2tsp of flaxseeds.

  • Dice the juicy fruit and apple/ pear/ melon 

  • Pulp the pulpy fruit 

  • Add hung curd to pulp and mix well you can add sweetener here 

  • Add diced fruits to this mixture 

  • add black raisins and flaxseeds 

  • Mix it really well and it’s ready!!

Here the pulped fruit and raisins will make it sweet and way lesser than sugar and syrup. You can use stevia as a sweetener here or skip it. Have this as a snack.
