The mention of Bajrang Dal in the list of entities "promoting enmity or hatred" led to a response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said it was an attempt to lock up those who worship Lord Hanuman.

It should be noted that, the Congress in Karnataka promised to ban Bajrang Dal in addition to the Popular Front of India and other such organisations in its election manifesto, released last week. The party said it is "committed to taking firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred against communities on the grounds of caste and religion."

BJP leader and former minister KS Eshwarappa on Thursday expressed anger against the Congress by burning its manifesto at the BJP office in Kalaburagi.

Besides Union Minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje has said that her party will recite Hanuman Chalisa across the state on Thursday evening (4 May). "Randeep Singh Surjewala has stated that BJP workers do not know how to sing Hanuman Chalisa. I hereby extend an invitation to Randeep Singh Surjewala. Hanuman Chalisa will be recited at 7 pm tomorrow in all parts of the state," Karandlaje said.

"Come, listen and see how we recite the Hanuman Chalisa. I request all the people of the state to participate in this programme," she added.
