In a shocking development, an attempt to repeat a Kanhaiya Lal-like heinous incident was made in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar where a group of Islamist extremists attacked a Hindu tailor with Iron rods on February 01. The disturbing incident has shaken the community of Bhavnagar in Gujarat.

Kanhaiya Lal like murder

As per the reports, the accused who have been identified as Sahil, Shaukat, and Munna attacked Rajendrabhai Chauhan for playing Hanuman Chalisa at his shop. The incident, captured in a harrowing video that circulated widely on the internet, depicts a young man viciously attacking the tailor.

According to the complainant, on the evening of February 1, while working in his shop, Sahil Padarshi and Shaukat Mankad entered with a pipe in Sahil’s hand. They verbally abused and threatened the victim, he said, blaming him for filing a complaint against Munna Bilal Padarshi. Subsequently, Sahil hit the victim on the head with the pipe, causing injuries.

Despite attempts by the victim to defend himself, the assailant continued the onslaught, leaving the tailor severely injured. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he received medical attention.

Rajendrabhai Chauhan, the complainant, mentioned that Sahil’s father Munna Bilal Padarshi had visited him a few days earlier, questioning why he filed a complaint against his son. Munna allegedly made threats, indicating that if the complaint was not withdrawn, severe consequences would follow. The complainant claims that this incident is related to the ongoing tensions between the two families.

According to statements from the victim, he had previously encountered opposition and threats due to his chanting. The CCTV footage capturing the assault has been secured as crucial evidence in the ongoing probe. According to latest reports, all five accused have been arrested.

Kanhaiya Lal’ Burtal murder

The spine-chilling incident reminds us of, the Udaipur incident where two Islamists Mohammad Riyaz and Ghouse Mohammad beheaded Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal. He was murdered for posting a social media message in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The post was reportedly made by accident from Kanhaiya Lal’s phone by his son while playing a video game. His neighbour Nazim filed a complaint against Kanhaiya Lal, following which he was arrested. Nazim also leaked Kanhaiya Lal’s number, photograph, and address to his community groups. After being released on bail, he continued to receive threats.

Feared for his life, Kanhaiya Lal shut his shop for six days and approached the Police for protection. Instead of giving him protection, the Police asked him to compromise with the Islamists who were threatening him. After six days, when he opened his shop, two Islamists came as customers and beheaded him.

Islamists Riyaz and Ghous Mohammad had come to Kanhaiya Lal’s tailor shop posing as customers. As the tailor was taking their measurements, they took out their heavy meat cleavers and brutally hacked him to death, while making a video of the incident. Kanhaiya Lal’s body had over 30 wounds. Kanhaiya Lal’s ‘fault’ was that a post supporting the statement of ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma was shared from his phone.

After brutally murdering Kahaiya Lal, Riyaz and Ghous had made a chilling video, brandishing their blood-stained weapons and gloating about the heinous act. They had asserted the Islamist slogan “Gustakh-e-Nabi ki ek hi saza, Sar tan se juda” and had boasted that they had killed the man for the sake of Islam.

The brutal act of murder was supported and even hailed by some of Ajmer Dargah’s custodians (Chishtis). Despite the brutality and wanton display of Islamic terrorism involved in the act, many media outlets had tried their best to tone it down, and had even shared reports of the news as ‘just another crime’.

This incident highlights a concerning trend where Hindus were facing violence and persecution for practising their faith openly.
