Assam Police arrests one Aijul Ahmed for involvement in counterfeit currency, details

In two separate police operations across Assam, authorities made significant seizures involving counterfeit currency in Guwahati and a large quantity of ganja in Biswanath, leading to multiple arrests and further investigations.

On Sunday 10th May, Police in Guwahati arrested a man during a routine patrol after recovering fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 80,000 from him.

He accused, identified as Aijul Ahmed, is a resident of Takeliputa under Samuguri Police Station limits.According to police, the suspect was stopped during routine checking due to suspicious movement. A search of his bag led to the recovery of counterfeit currency notes. He has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
 
In another similar incident, that happened on Saturday, May 9th, acting on intelligence inputs, police from Biswanath Chariali Police Station in Assam carried out an operation near National Highway 15 in the Pratapgarh Tea Garden area.

During the operation, a vehicle bearing registration number AS12-T 3573 was intercepted. Two individuals, identified as Deepak Boro and Deveshwar Karmakar, were arrested for dealing in ganja.

Police said the duo was transporting over 50 kilograms of ganja from Orang towards Biswanath. The contraband was seized from the vehicle, and both accused are being interrogated to identify others involved in the drug network.
Further investigation is in progress.
