A 23-year-old woman belonging to the Scheduled Caste ‘Valmiki’ community has levelled grave allegations against a jailed illegal arms dealer and his family, accusing them of luring her through social media, sexually assaulting her, leading her to forceful conversion in Islam, confining her for nearly three years, and eventually pushing her into prostitution.

The case has triggered outrage after an FIR was registered at Delhi’s Jamia Nagar Police Station on May 14, 2025, against six members of a family linked to illegal arms trafficking in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint invokes charges including kidnapping, gang rape, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, trafficking, and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

At the centre of the case is Mohammed Fahim alias “Fahim Langda,” a notorious illegal arms trader from Meerut who is currently lodged in jail in another criminal matter.

According to the victim’s complaint, Fahim concealed his Muslim identity and introduced himself online as “Sahil” to trap her emotionally.

The woman, identified in the complaint as Megha (name changed), stated that the accused carefully crafted a fake Hindu identity on Instagram. She alleged that Fahim uploaded photographs of himself wearing a rudraksh mala and kalawa to appear Hindu and gain her trust.

Over time, conversations between the two intensified, eventually leading her to believe she was in a genuine relationship.

According to the FIR, Megha first travelled from Faridabad to meet “Sahil” in March 2022 at Delhi’s Batla House area. What she believed would be a meeting with her boyfriend allegedly turned into a nightmare. She has claimed that she was drugged and gang-raped. Thereafter, the accused allegedly used objectionable photographs and videos to blackmail her into remaining in contact with him.

The complaint states that in May 2022, Fahim took her by bus to his ancestral home in Sathla village in Meerut district. It was there, that she first discovered “Sahil” was actually Mohammed Fahim. By then, she claims, she had already been isolated from her family and psychologically manipulated through threats and intimidation.

The FIR further alleges that shortly after reaching the Meerut house, she was drugged once again. When she regained consciousness, she realised she had been sexually assaulted by Fahim’s father, Khurshid. The woman has claimed that she was thereafter kept under constant surveillance and repeatedly threatened with death if she attempted to escape or contact anyone outside.

She also alleged that the house functioned as a hub for illegal arms trading, with multiple members of the family involved in the operation. Amid this atmosphere of fear and violence, she says she was forced deeper into captivity.
One of the most disturbing allegations in the complaint relates to her forced religious conversion.

On May 27, 2022, Fahim allegedly took her to a madrassa in Agwanpur village run by his maternal uncle, Hafiz Manzoor. There, according to the survivor, she was forced to recite the Kalma and was renamed “Aisha.”

In her statement, the woman alleged that Manzoor glorified the conversion process and justified it using religious reasoning. Recalling Fahim’s words, she stated that he once told her: “Mama Manzoor told me that since I cannot go for Haj due to my criminal record, getting a Hindu woman converted through a love trap would earn me Jannat.”

The victim further alleged that she was beaten when she resisted conversion rituals or refused to comply with Islamic practices imposed upon her. She claims she was forced to wear a burqa, offer namaz, and eat meat against her wishes.
According to the complaint, women members of the family physically assaulted her whenever she objected.

The abuse worsened after she became pregnant in July 2022. Megha stated that Fahim refused to allow her to terminate the pregnancy, telling her that children were “Allah’s gift.” After the birth of her daughter, she claims the threats intensified further.

According to the FIR, Fahim’s brother Azeem threatened to throw the infant from the rooftop unless she submitted to sexual demands. Traumatised and unable to see a way out, the woman allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. She survived after receiving treatment.

But the ordeal, she says, did not end there.

After recovering, Megha stated that the family began forcing her into prostitution.

She told the police that when she resisted, a Maulvi identified as Nafees was called to counsel her. Instead of helping her, he justified the exploitation and told her that the men visiting her were his “clients.” The complaint further alleges that payments from these men were collected by her mother-in-law, Tasleem.

As scrutiny over Fahim’s criminal activities increased in Meerut, the family shifted to Delhi’s Batla House area in November 2024. A few months later, in January 2025, Fahim was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Mehrauli Special Staff in connection with criminal cases. He was subsequently re-arrested by Gurugram Police, during which his mobile phone was seized.

The survivor claims this period became her only opportunity to flee. Taking advantage of Fahim’s custody and the confusion following the police action, she escaped from the house and returned to her parents.

However, according to the complaint, the threats did not stop even after her escape. She alleged that on May 12, 2025, she received another threatening phone call from Fahim while he was in jail.

Fearful for her safety, she approached a lawyer, who then connected her with social organisations Save India Foundation and Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation.

With the support of these organisations, the woman approached police and formally lodged her complaint.

Police have registered the FIR against multiple accused under provisions relating to kidnapping, rape, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, trafficking, and criminal conspiracy. The woman has also recorded her statement before a magistrate and is presently under protection, according to the complaint.

The allegations are now expected to form part of a wider investigation into the accused family’s alleged criminal network, including illegal arms trafficking, coercive religious conversion, and organised sexual exploitation.
