In the wildest update in the history of Indian politics, a new unregistered party has emerged in the market, comprising the so-called unemployed, lazy, and activist youth. The party is called the 'Cockroach Janata Party,' and its founder is Abhijeet Dipke. The movement that initially started on social media as a rebuttal to the recent statement by CJI Surya Kant has recently been approached by a couple of TMC party members who are now officially part of the so-called party.

The trigger was generated when CJI Surya Kant, on May 15, stated that 'there are youngsters like cockroaches, they don’t get any employment, some become media persons, social media users, RTI activists and start attacking everyone.' Notably, Kant made the 'cockroach' remark during a Supreme Court hearing while criticizing people allegedly using fake law degrees and attacking institutions. However, the statement was misquoted by many young people who launched an online movement.

A day later, Kant clarified that his remarks were 'misquoted' and taken out of context. He said he was referring specifically to people entering professions with 'fake and bogus degrees' and behaving like 'parasites' on institutions, not to unemployed youth in general. He also said he was proud of India’s youth. Despite this, the online movement continued, which now has an official website and also a point-to-point manifesto.

"Build a party for the young people who keep getting called lazy, chronically online, and, most recently, cockroaches. That's it. That's the mission. The rest is satire," the mission statement of the party reads.

'Official Manifesto' of Founder Dipke's personal rant

Interestingly, the founder of the party, identified as Abhijeet Dipke, seems to be a technologically savvy person who is seemingly very unhappy with the current ruling Indian government and is eventually allegedly getting funds from some organizations (political or non-political, maybe) to launch a narrative against India. Let me explain this line by line.

In the party manifesto published on the so-called website of the Cockroach Janata Party, Dipke states his intention to come into power within the Indian political system, as he says that no CJI shall be granted a Rajya Sabha seat as a post-retirement reward if CJP comes to power.

If any legit vote is deleted, whether in a CJP or opposition-ruled state, the CEC shall be arrested under UAPA, as taking away voting rights of citizens is no less than terrorism. Women shall receive 50% reservation, not 33%, without increasing the strength of Parliament. Additionally, 50% of all Cabinet positions shall be reserved for women. All media houses owned by Ambani and Adani shall have their licences cancelled to make way for truly independent media. Bank accounts of Godi media anchors shall be investigated. Any MLA or MP who defects from one party to another shall be barred from contesting elections and from holding any public office for a period of 20 years," his manifesto adds further.

Doesn't it sound like a personal rant against the Indian government, which has recently introduced or executed these issues in favor of the national interest? In the recently held Assembly elections in the 5 states, the Election Commission, the Indian government, made sure there was no fake voting based on illegal documents, unlike incidents that had emerged from states, especially from West Bengal. Leftists and Islamists also opposed the women's reservation bill under the alleged guise of opposition to the delimitation; they also have a problem with the media today reporting facts like crimes against Hindus at the hands of Islamists, which were probably never reported before this.

Okay, if this is not a personal rant, and if this unregistered 'party' is attempting to pose as a 'secular' one, why does it fail to talk about illegal immigration from across the borders, why does it fail to talk about increasing Islamist crimes in India, and why does it fail to talk about illegal voting, but choose to threaten the CEC under UAPA? Just because the BJP came to power? Well, the scene is self-explanatory then.

Abhijeet Dipke and his association to AAP

Let's come to Dipke's background. A simple search on social media and his associations with the other political parties that severely oppose development are evident. Dipke is a media studies graduate. He rose to prominence during the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections as a key social media strategist and meme creator for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). It is believed that he played an important role in the party’s digital outreach, crafting catchy one-liners, parody videos, short clips, and pop-culture memes aimed at millennials and first-time voters, often promoting Arvind Kejriwal while targeting political rivals.

He reportedly worked under Ankit Lal and was involved in national social media coordination and war-room operations. He later served as Director of Communications for AAP and as communications adviser to Delhi’s Education Department, specializing in digital campaigns, viral content, and youth engagement. As per the information available, he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Relations at Boston University in the United States.

In one of the posts, Dipke is seen thanking AAP's Manish Sisodiya for the opportunities the party gave him to work during the Delhi elections. In another one of his posts, he also stated that the only person who could change the country was AAP's Arvind Kejriwal. Notably, Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia were arrested in the Delhi liquor excise policy scam, and according to Dipke, these are the people who would bring change in society. That's a meme thought now!

Is Dipke eyeing to be the new young face of AAP after Chadha's exit?

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has recently faced political turmoil after Raghav Chadha and a total of 7 AAP members joined the BJP. All the AAP members, including Ashok Mittal and Swati Maliwal, accused the AAP leadership of misusing the power for politics, which had led the party to nearing its end. Some also said that AAP had become centered around “personal gain” and moved away from its founding principles, which were to 'fight against corruption'.

But following corruption allegations and investigations involving senior AAP leaders, the party’s image itself weakened among voters. BJP further appeared to offer better political security and long-term opportunities to these leaders, and so, several AAP councillors, MLAs, and strategists crossed over to the BJP after being denied tickets or sidelined within the party.

AAP has suffered heavily because many of those leaving were influential faces involved in media strategy, grassroots mobilization, and election management. The exits weakened the party’s cadre strength, digital campaign network, and local leadership structure.

Amid this, what is the guarantee that this social campaign is not created to support the dying AAP in India?

Gen Z data collection, who might become potential voters of AAP

Further, CJP's website has just been developed to create hype, as all it offers is a simple Google form that might probably collect data of all those who are unhappy with the current government. These include all the Gen Z class who will actually become the potential voters if CJP, allegedly backed by AAP, actually gets registered as an official political party.

Given this, several questions arise, like is AAP actually funding this initiative to rebuild its party dynamics in India? Dipke joined Boston University in 2024 for a 2-year Master's degree. After two years now, is he getting back to India to be the new face of the party? Otherwise, why would he make his identity public, knowing that his old tweets, his LinkedIn association track to AAP, would get traced by the so-called right-wing social media enthusiasts? Where is this all leading?

The “Cockroach Janata Party” is barely two days old, yet it already claims to have enrolled 40,000 members. The outfit has rapidly gained thousands of followers on social media and has even “welcomed” two All India Trinamool Congress MPs who reportedly expressed interest in joining it. While the entire episode appears vague and unusual, it also offers insight into the intentions and political messaging associated with Dipke and the Aam Aadmi Party. Let's wait for what happens next!
