Yavatmal: Gorakshak killed in stone, wooden log attack by cow smugglers; Sheikh Sultan Sheikh Allawali, aides booked; exclusive details

As per the FIR details exclusively obtained by Newsbharati, the incident happened when Gajanan was following a pickup truck suspected of transporting bovine animals illegally. Gajanan was a contractor by profession and was returning from the site on the night of May 23, 2026, at around 11:40 pm. His Gorakshak associates, Mahesh Uttamrao Suroshe, Narayan Dattatray Karmodkar, and Nilesh Vilas Jhade spotted him near Bijora Toll Naka and informed him that a pickup vehicle bearing number MH 29 BE 8915 was carrying bovine animals illegally.

 

 

Following this, the Gorakshaks waited at the toll naka for the concerned vehicle belonging to the accused Sheikh. Sheikh, after some time, arrived at the spot, but seeing Gorakshaks at the toll gate, fled towards Umarkhed.

 

In the FIR complaint filed by Gajanan's brother, he says that the Gorakshaks followed the pickup vehicle in separate vehicles. "Mahesh and his friends fell into a ditch. Since the concerned pickup contained bovine animals, in order to save their lives, Gajanan continued to follow the pickup. The pickup stopped in a field at Sukli village. At that point, the driver of the pickup vehicle and his associates came out of the pickup vehicle and started beating my brother's vehicle with large stones and wooden logs. After that, the accused together unloaded approximately 11 to 12 bovine animals from the pickup vehicle and fled," the complainant said.

 

 

During this, Gajanan was also allegedly brutally assaulted. "After some time, the police reached the spot to see that Gajanan was injured and sitting on the rear seat. He was immediately taken to the Government Rural Hospital Umarkhed, where doctors treated him and referred him to Nanded for further treatment. At Yashosai Hospital in Nanded, while receiving treatment, the doctors declared the patient dead," the FIR added.

 

 

 

As per the information exclusively obtained, accused Sheikh Sultan Sheikh Allawali and one other have been booked. Meanwhile, several social media activists claim that police have arrested 6 persons of the 15 accused, identified as Allavali Sheikh, Sultan Sheikh, Irfan Sheikh, Ibrahim Sheikh, Asif Sheikh, Ayaz Qazi, Arif Sheikh, and others.
