A series of cases involving deception, sexual assault, and love jihad have been reported in the state of Uttarakhand, raising serious concerns among local communities. In a recent case that has come to the fore from Tuni, a man named Anas was
arrested for creating a fake Instagram profile under the Hindu name "Ansh Rana" to deceive a 16-year-old Hindu girl, whom he subsequently sexually assaulted.
A local vegetable vendor, Mohammad Junaid, has also been implicated for allegedly facilitating the crime by arranging hotel accommodation for the accused without verifying identification documents.

As per the
reports, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act. Anas, a resident of Kulhal in Vikasnagar, has also been arrested and is currently in custody and under investigation.
The incident triggered strong protests in the area, with local traders and members of the Rudrasena Devbhoomi Sangathan shutting down the Tuni main market in a demonstration.
The Hindu protesters took to the streets, raised slogans, and burned effigies in outrage. Hindu leader Rakesh Tomar Uttarakhandi further issued a stern warning against such incidents, while locals have called for strict verification of outsiders and accountability for hotels that provide rooms without proper ID checks.
A separate but similar case also emerged from the Chakrata area, where a man named Farman used a fake Instagram identity to
befriend a Hindu woman, concealing his real identity. He reportedly attempted to take her to Deoband in Saharanpur, but was thwarted after her husband was alerted in time.
