The arrest is linked to the ongoing investigation into Mohammad Faraz alias Khalid Saifullah (34), a resident of Bhopal, who was arrested earlier by the Madhya Pradesh ATS.

How investigation reached Naeem

The probe began after ATS received information that Faraz was connected to Pakistani handlers through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. He was influenced to recruit other youths and prepare for anti-national activities.

During interrogation, Faraz told investigators that he had been in contact with Naeem Abdullah, a resident of Deoband in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district, for nearly five to six years.

Preliminary findings indicate that both Naim and Faraz had links to a madrasa in Deoband. Investigators are now attempting to determine the nature of their relationship and whether it forms part of a wider network.
ATS officials stated that Naeem introduced Faraz to Pakistani handlers, after which Faraz became part of several online groups linked to radical activities.

According to the ATS, Faraz claimed that Pakistani handlers encouraged him to join jihad and recruit more youths.
Investigators also stated that he was instructed to prepare for future operations, obtain a passport, and remain connected with online groups operating through encrypted platforms.
The ATS further stated that digital evidence and alleged jihadi material were recovered during the investigation.
Based on the findings, a case was registered at STF Police Station, Bhopal, against Mohammad Faraz and Naeem Abdullah under sections 152 of the BNS 2023 and 13(1)(B), 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Security agencies are now examining Naeem Abdullah's role in the alleged network and are investigating whether more individuals are connected to the case.
Officials said further arrests and searches may follow as the investigation progresses.
