On Monday, June 15, a disturbing case emerged from Nagpur, where the wife of an Air Force serviceman has lodged a complaint against a former classmate and his associates, alleging rape, blackmail, black magic rituals, and forced religious conversion. Authorities have so far arrested two individuals, including the prime accused, while a separate police team has been dispatched to Madhya Pradesh in search of a cleric linked to the forced conversion. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayaaz Madare and his accomplice Ameen Shaikh.

As per the FIR, on February 8, 2025, Ayaaz tampered with the 24-year-old woman's drink during a hotel meeting. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim discovered that the accused had recorded compromising footage of her. He used this material to coerce her, threatening to share it with her husband and make it public on social media. The complainant further alleged repeated sexual assault and extortion amounting to approximately Rs 4 lakh.

A video that has since gone viral serves as a critical piece of evidence. In the footage, the young woman is seen in distress, tearfully begging Ayaaz to release her, while he forcibly restrains her hands and performs what appears to be a ritualistic act, muttering verses and repeatedly blowing on her. She is visibly struggling to free herself. The woman in the complaint said that she was subsequently declared a convert and faced another attempt at sexual assault immediately after.

The complainant also stated that Ayaaz would regularly bring a liquid in a plastic bottle and compel her to drink it, after which he would mutter in Urdu, blow on her face, and claim to be performing hypnosis or black magic, before assaulting her sexually.

In a separate incident mentioned in the complaint, on May 31, Madare and his associate forcibly took her to Kalmeshwar, where a third accused, a maulana from Tamia village in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly conducted religious rituals and coerced her into saying "qubool hai," effectively forcing a conversion against her will. The cleric then reportedly declared her a Muslim and announced her "nikah" to Ayaaz. She was then compelled to consume meat and recite religious verses. The group subsequently took her to a hotel, where she was sexually assaulted again. The accused reportedly continued to visit and assault her at her residence thereafter.

Police have registered charges under the anti-black magic law, along with sections about rape, repeated sexual assault, extortion, blackmail, and forced conversion. A Nagpur police team is actively pursuing the absconding maulana.

Addressing the media, DCP Suresh Reddy stated that the woman's complaint encompasses allegations of rape, extortion, conversion, and black magic, adding that seized electronic devices are undergoing forensic examination, which is expected to yield crucial evidence. He confirmed that a police team has been sent to another state to locate the cleric and that a comprehensive investigation is in progress.
