The Kondhwa Police in Maharashtra's Pune district filed an FIR against one Pastor identified as Kenneth Paal Silway for attempting to deliberately mislead a gathering of around 400 and allegedly promoting the Christian religion under the guise of curing physical ailments. The complaint filed by one of the Hindus stated that the accused unlawfully gathered innocent people and spread superstition in society by allegedly praying in the name of healing people's incurable diseases through alleged prayer.
The complaint has been filed on June 14 against the Pastor and one unidentified person under sections 189(2), 115(2), 223 of BNS, 2026; 37(1), 37(3), 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 and 3(2) of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. The FIR copy has been obtained exclusively by Newsbharati.
The incident is believed to have happened on June 14, 2026, at the Lord Church in Shivnerinagar, Kondhwa, at around 11 am. The complainant, who is a social worker at Andhashraddha Mukti Mission, said she received a lead on social media that Pastor Kenneth Paal Silway was going to conduct a missionary event under the guise of a Sunday prayer at the Lord Church in Kondhwa.
Following this, she and one of his associates attended the event to learn that the Pastor was spreading superstitions, claiming that he could cure diseases like cancer and tumors through his alleged personal connection with Jesus. The associates of the Pastor, meanwhile, sold some liquid claiming that it would cure all the incurable diseases.
"Take this bottle; it will cure all your ailments. Mix the medicine in this bottle with water and drink it. If you have a knot (lump) anywhere, apply it to the knot; wherever you have pain, apply it there, all your troubles will be resolved. The price of this bottle is Rs 20," the person said while selling the alleged 'medicine'.
"At that time, volunteers at the venue had us fill out a form containing our full name, address, mobile number, and signature," the complainant said, who works towards eradicating superstitions and blind faith prevalent in society, as well as raising public awareness.
The complaint further states that Pastor Silve's associate addressed a gathering of approximately 300–400 people, including children, and deliberately misled them by falsely claiming that Pastor Kenneth Paal Silway's purported divine connection with Jesus and his so-called prayers had miraculously cured devotees of their ailments.
"The Pastor called a boy of approximately 6–7 years of age onto the stage, and his guardians stood near the stage. A female volunteer announced on the microphone before those present that the said boy was not getting admission in any school, so his parents had called Pastor Kenith Silve and sought his help, and Pastor Kenith Silve had prayed to Jesus on his behalf, due to which the boy received admission. After that, a male volunteer spoke on the microphone from the stage, saying that a three-year-old boy had been suffering from fever for many days and despite treatment from 3 different doctors, there was no improvement, so the child's parents called Pastor Kenith Silve and sought his help, and Pastor Kenneth Paal Silway prayed to Jesus, due to which the child's fever reduced and he recovered," the complaint read.
The complainant also stated that she and her associate were gheraoed by the missionary people as they shot videos and photos of the event, which spread superstitions and misled persons. The complaint has been filed. Further updates in the case are underway.
