Social media is abuzz over what many are describing as a surprisingly levelheaded "voice of reason", and it is coming from an unlikely source. Internet personality Orry has
found himself at the centre of a massive viral moment, earning widespread praise for taking a firm and clear-eyed stance on a deeply contentious issue.
A clip from a recent episode of 'Learn By KK Create', hosted by Kavya Karnatak, has been making rounds online, in which the host is seen advocating for the concept of "genderless spaces." Orry, however, pushed back firmly. He emphasised the importance of women's safety and argued that gender-segregated facilities are essential to prevent chaos, particularly given the ground realities of the social climate in India.
The most talked-about moment of the interview came when Orry directly challenged Kavya Karnatak's position with a blunt, hypothetical question, asking whether she would genuinely be comfortable with a strange man using the same restroom as her own daughter. Visibly caught off guard, she laughed, paused, and still maintained that she supported genderless spaces, before ultimately admitting, when pressed further, that she would not actually be comfortable with it. The contradiction was not lost on viewers.
The clip spread rapidly, with netizens quick to point out the inconsistency. One viewer wrote, "Didn't know I would see a day when Orry will make sense more than the people in power who are supposed to make sense in this country!!! We are doomed for sure!!!" Many admitted to having underestimated him, with one commenter noting, "Never thought I'd say this, but this podcast made me a fan of Orry. He's far more intelligent and self-aware than his public image suggests. A good reminder that you should never judge a book by its cover."
This comes days after Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, criticized YouTube creator Dhruv Rathee, labeling him “anti-national” and alleging that he selectively addresses topics that align with his own narrative.
He said his frustration stemmed from being featured in the thumbnail of one of Rathee’s videos, despite appearing only briefly in the content. “I don’t like him because he used me in the thumbnail of his video. I ended up watching the entire 20-minute video thinking it was about me, only to find that I was there for barely two seconds. It felt like clickbait and was torture for me,” Orry said.
The said video of Orry had also gone viral on the internet. A detailed report on the same can be read here.
