A Pakistani national was apprehended by Indian Army personnel after allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said on Sunday (June 28).
The man has been identified as 31-year-old Rayees Khan, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He was taken into custody from the Balakote sector shortly after entering Indian territory.
Officials said no incriminating material was recovered from his possession during the initial search.
Security agencies have launched a detailed interrogation to determine the purpose behind the border crossing and whether he had any contacts or assignments on the Indian side.

Investigation Underway
According to officials, Rayees Khan is currently being questioned by security agencies. Investigators are trying to establish whether the crossing was accidental or part of a planned attempt to enter Indian territory.
Authorities are also examining his background, travel route and possible links to individuals operating across the border.
Security officials have not ruled out any angle and said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Third Such Incident in June
The latest detention is the third case of a Pakistani national crossing into Jammu and Kashmir this month.
Earlier, 26-year-old Mohammad Sajad was apprehended from the Gulpur area of the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district after allegedly crossing the LoC.
In another incident on June 9, a 14-year-old boy identified as Javid Ali was detained after crossing into Indian territory. Following verification procedures, he was handed back to Pakistani authorities a week later.
The repeated incidents have raised concerns among security agencies, prompting enhanced surveillance along vulnerable stretches of the LoC.
Drone Sighting Triggers Security Alert
The arrest comes amid heightened vigilance along the border following reports of a suspected Pakistani drone entering Indian airspace in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.
According to officials, the drone was spotted hovering near Nundpur village along the International Border during the early hours of Sunday.
Following the sighting, personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint search operation in the area.
Security teams combed nearby fields and villages to check for any possible airdrop of weapons, explosives or narcotics. However, no suspicious material was recovered during the operation.
Border Security Remains Tight
Security forces have remained on high alert along the India-Pakistan border in recent months amid concerns over infiltration attempts, drone activity and cross-border smuggling.
Officials said surveillance systems and patrolling have been strengthened to prevent illegal crossings and to counter any security threats emanating from across the border.
The interrogation of Rayees Khan is expected to continue as agencies seek to establish the circumstances surrounding his entry into Indian territory.
