On Friday, June 5, a woman at the centre of the TCS Nashik sexual harassment and conversion case told investigators that she was repeatedly asked to watch videos of a Pakistani preacher and other religious speakers to influence her faith and accept Islam. The 23-year-old complainant alleged that the accused introduced her to Islamic teachings through videos of Pakistani cleric Tariq Jamil and speeches by controversial preacher Zakir Naik.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the case, filed a chargesheet, to learn that one of the accused, Sheikh, sexually exploited the victim on the promise of marriage while encouraging her to move away from Hindu religious practices.

The chargesheet pertains to a case registered at Deolali Camp police station against Danish Shaikh, Tausif Attar and Nida Khan. Shaikh told her, “Don't be afraid, trust me, Allah is with us. Stop listening to Bhagwan songs and going to the temple; your stress will decrease,” citing the chargesheet. He also allegedly advised her to recite Tasbeeh and seek forgiveness through Islamic prayers, claiming it would ease her anxiety.

The complainant told investigators that Shaikh asked co-accused Tausif Attar and Nida Khan to provide her with information about Islam. She alleged that Attar instructed her to search for videos of Zakir Naik and Pakistani Islamic scholar Dr Israr Ahmed on YouTube and listen to their speeches.

The chargesheet says that she was also introduced to Islamic concepts including Jannah (heaven), Jahannum (hell), Qurbani (sacrifice), Bakri Eid and Zamzam water. “I was convinced that if I accepted the Islamic religion, my mental stress would decrease. I slowly started believing in those things,” the complainant said in her statement.

The chargesheet also alleges that Shaikh had access to details of the woman's bank accounts and UPI PIN and was aware of the money in her accounts. Apart from the three accused, the chargesheet names AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, alleging that he sheltered Nida Khan while she was absconding despite knowing that her anticipatory bail plea had been rejected.

In early 2026, multiple employees at the TCS Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) campus in Nashik, Maharashtra, filed FIRs alleging sustained sexual harassment and religious coercion by several team leaders. The allegations reportedly span from 2022 to 2026, pointing to prolonged misconduct within the workplace.

The case came to light after a woman employee filed a complaint at the Deolali Camp Police Station. As more victims came forward, a clear and disturbing pattern began to emerge. The accused allegedly created multiple WhatsApp groups and smaller internal communication circles to engage with colleagues and gradually influence them. Victims claimed that individuals were shortlisted based on personal vulnerabilities such as emotional stress or family issues.

Several victims claimed that repeated complaints had been made to the company's human resources department, including over 78 emails and multiple phone calls, but no effective action was taken. The allegations against Nida Khan herself are chilling in their specificity. According to the FIR, Khan allegedly advised women employees to dress and behave in accordance with Islamic traditions. Some complainants alleged that they were coerced or pressured into adopting religious practices, including praying, changing dietary habits, and adopting religious symbols.

The prosecution informed the court that the investigation had expanded beyond Nashik, with alleged links to Malegaon and Malaysia. Khan tried to influence one of the complainants to adopt Islam by teaching her religious practices. The operational details are even more disturbing. She allegedly tried to change the victim's name to "Haniya," provided her with a burqa and Islamic religious books (now seized by police), installed religious apps on her phone, and shared online content promoting conversion. Police sources say Khan repeatedly warned the victim of consequences for refusal.

The prosecution also alleged that co-accused Danish Sheikh had taken possession of the complainant's educational and other important documents, which were to be handed over to a team in Malegaon as part of the plan.
