The detainees were taken to the NJP police station and interrogated for several hours. During preliminary questioning, they reportedly admitted that they were Bangladeshi citizens and had entered India illegally. They said they intended to work in Haryana for a few days and then return to Bangladesh using fake identity documents. However, after being arrested, their plans were disrupted.

Police sources identified four of the detainees as residents of Dinajpur district in Bangladesh: Monir Ray, Sourav Ray, Kamal Chandra Ray, and Atikur Ray. The other four were Govinda Ray, Sangita Ray, Titu Chandra Ray, and Joydeb Ray, all residents of Nilphamari district in Bangladesh.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about security along the international border. Police have begun investigating whether there is a larger network behind the infiltration.
