On Monday, July 13, Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district's Devri area
witnessed an incident that has raised concerns about women's safety. While standing at a bus stop in Devri, a woman traveler had an experience of misbehavior by a passenger while traveling on a bus. But the woman showed courage and immediately opposed it, and while protesting his behavior, she slapped him. After that, the accused man got off the bus midway and left.
The video of the said incident is making rounds on social media. Also, the accused has been traced and taken into custody.
According to the
reports, the woman was sitting on the bus when the concerned man boarded the bus. On the bus, two women were sitting on the adjacent seats. Taking advantage of the crowd, he kept coming close to them. It is said that he attempted to misbehave with a few girls on some occasions.
The woman felt uncomfortable because of the incident. Initially, she tried to distance herself from him. But when the concerned man did not change his behavior, she bravely stopped him and, protesting his behavior, slapped him. Due to this sudden incident, other passengers on the bus also became alert. After that, the concerned man fled from there.
This entire incident was
recorded on the CCTV camera installed on the bus. As soon as the footage came to light, the police took immediate action and took the concerned man into custody.
According to the information given by the police, no written complaint has yet been filed in this matter by the woman or her family members. Therefore, preliminary action has been taken as per the available legal provisions. The police have made it clear that incidents related to women's safety will be viewed seriously, and whatever action is necessary will be taken to prevent such incidents.
