Assam Rifles, customs seize contraband worth Rs 2.24 lakh in Tripura; two held

In a major action against cross-border smuggling, Assam Rifles, working alongside the Department of Customs, seized contraband worth around Rs 2.24 lakh during a joint operation in Mungiakami village, Khowai district, Tripura. Two people were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The operation was carried out by the Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles, under the supervision of Headquarters 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), based on specific intelligence inputs.
 

Acting on this intelligence, the joint team carried out the operation during the evening and recovered 1,000 bottles of Eskuf Syrup, suspected to be part of an illegal shipment.

The two arrested individuals, along with the seized contraband, were handed over to the Department of Customs for further legal action.
 

Officials noted that the successful operation highlights the strong coordination between Assam Rifles and civil enforcement agencies in tackling illegal activities and reinforcing security in the border regions of the Northeast.
