Chaos at Jantar Mantar: Police forced to lathi charge after 1000s CJP protesters illegally gather for 'Chalo Sansad march'

On Monday, July 20, on the first day of CJP's "Chalo Sansad" protest march to the Parliament, the Delhi Police were forced to resort to a lathi charge, and thousands of CJP 'student' protesters illegally gathered at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The police facilitated the action as they had already issued warnings against large gatherings at the site.
"He (Sonam Wangchuk) didn’t want to go to the hospital. He wanted to do the Parliament march. But what these police people have done- he was not a criminal. The way they took him away, hidden under sheets- if you were so concerned about his health, you should have taken him with respect." He adds, "...In every state, in every district, set up a Jantar Mantar! And protest there just like the way it has been going on here for a month," Dipke claimed, showing zero concern for the deteriorating health of Sonam Wangchuk.
He also alleged that the police acted like goons and dragged Sonam Wangchuk, hurling abuses at him. He also accused the 'RSS goons' who took away Sonam Wangchuk under the guise of the police. Further, he added that earlier protests were held only to demand the resignation of Minister Dharmendra Pradhan; now, CJP will protest to demand the resignation of PM Narendra Modi. "Until now, we were demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, but after this despicable act, we will now demand the resignation of Narendra Modi," he said. "Protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are strictly prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, with prior permission," the police said in a post on X. "Delhi Police appeals to all citizens to respect the law, refrain from participating in any unauthorised gathering or march, and cooperate in maintaining public peace, safety and security," the post read.

Mobile internet has been shut down in parts of Central Delhi. Five Delhi Metro stations, Rajiv Chowk, Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth, have also been closed over security concerns until further instructions.

This comes a couple of days after the Delhi Police removed 'activist' Sonam Wangchuk from Delhi's Jantar Mantar protest site and asked the other 'student protesters' to vacate the site. Following this, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke began shedding tears. In an attempt to gain sympathy, he also accused the Delhi Police of allegedly mishandling Wangchuk, who has been on hunger strike for the past 20 days against the alleged NEET paper leak.
