Security Forces Bust Naxal Explosives Dump in Sukma, Recover IEDs and Detonators

Sukma (Chhattisgarh), August 31 : Security forces have uncovered a major Naxal explosives dump in the dense Belpocha-Gompad forest area of Sukma district, in Chhatsigarh, recovering a large cache of explosive materials believed to have been intended for attacks against security personnel.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Sukma District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters following specific intelligence inputs provided by recently surrendered Naxal cadres.
During the search operation, security personnel recovered an 8-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along with two tiffin bombs, 10 detonators, 17 gelatin sticks and several metres of Cordex detonation wire.

According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Mayank Gurjar, the recovered materials were part of a suspected strategic plan by Naxalites to target security forces and disturb peace in the Bastar region.
The discovery is considered significant as the explosives could potentially have been used to target security personnel operating in the forested and remote areas of Sukma.

Following the recovery, specialised bomb disposal squads safely neutralised the explosives at the site, preventing any possible threat to civilians or security personnel.
Security forces have now intensified search and combing operations across the surrounding forest belt to locate any additional explosives, weapons or other material that may have been concealed by Naxal elements.
