The Second Precursor Session of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar 5.0 (VK 5.0)' will be held in Bengaluru on 8 August 2026, convened under the aegis of His Holiness Spiritual Sovereign Jainacharya Yugbhushansuriji. The focused panel discussion will bring together the Economics Advisory Committee and invited panellists to deliberate on the fundamentals of the economic domain.

The panel discussion's deliberations are expected to produce a refined body of principles on economics, incorporating the panellists' insights, comments and objections. Based on this, the economics Dhruv Patra will be drafted, published and formally presented at the VK 5.0 Main Event, as part of the wider Dhruv Tatvam initiative.
His Holiness Spiritual Sovereign Jainacharya Yugbhushansuriji Maharaja, the 79th successor in the lineage of Tirthankar Shri Mahavir Swami, mentors the Jyot Foundation and Gitarth Ganga, a research institute in Ahmedabad, and guides the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar conclave series, which advances the case for reviving timeless civilisational principles as the basis of a free, fair and just world order.
The session will bring together a wide-ranging panel including Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member, NITI Aayog; Dr. N. K. Singh, President, Institute of Economic Growth and Chairman, 15th Finance Commission; M.K Jain, former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India; and Sachin Chaturvedi, Economist and Policy Researcher, and Vice Chancellor, Nalanda University.
Also participating will be Balasubramanian Krishnamurthy, Joint Secretary, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance; Adv. Prashant Kumar, President, Bar Association of India; Sr. Adv. S. S. As per the press release by Jyot Foundation, its research team will present the concept note and the draft economics by Dhruv Patra during the session. Panellists meanwhile are expected to examine the underlying propositions and assumptions, offer comments and objections, and help refine the principles put forward. Organisers said the discussion will seek convergence wherever possible, while also documenting dissenting views and unresolved questions.
A key focus of the session will be what is being described as "The Era in Question: 1776–2026." The discussion will examine how the modern economic order, largely organised around capitalism, communism and socialism, emerged as a response to the Industrial Revolution and the need to concentrate and mobilise capital. It will specifically look at the treatment of Adam Smith's 1776 work as a civilisational "Year Zero" of economic science, and place this modern framework alongside older, continuous economic traditions such as Kautilya's Arthashastra, Shukra Nitisara, Kamandakiya Nitisara, the Vyavahara chapters of the Smritis, the commercial sutras of the Jain and Buddhist canons, and practical economics recorded in regional manuals of medieval India.
