UP: Mohd Faiz arrested in Varanasi after woman alleges video blackmail, assault and pressure for prostitution, religious conversion

Varanasi police have arrested 28-year-old Mohd Faiz after a woman alleged that he recorded her obscene videos and used them to threaten and blackmail her. She also accused Faiz of assaulting her, threatening to kill her and pressuring her into prostitution and religious conversion when she refused to comply.

Police in Varanasi have arrested Mohd Faiz, a 28-year-old resident of the Omkaleshwar area under Adampur police station, following a complaint by a Hindu woman in her early 20s.
 
DCP Varuna Zone Pramod Kumar said Faiz was arrested on September 1, after detailed questioning at Cantt police station.
 
The woman had filed her complaint at Cantt police station on July 31, alleging that Faiz had used private photographs and obscene videos to threaten and control her.

Woman alleges blackmail over obscene video
 
According to the complaint, the woman became acquainted with Faiz and later developed a close relationship with him.
She alleged that during this period, Faiz recorded her obscene videos without her consent.
 
The woman further claimed that Faiz later used the videos and photographs to blackmail her. She claimed that he threatened to circulate the material on social media if she refused to follow his demands.
 
According to her complaint, the threats were used to put pressure on her and force her to do things against her wishes.
 
 
Pressure for prostitution and religious conversion
 
The woman has made serious allegations against Faiz, claiming that he used the threat of releasing her private photographs and videos to pressure her into prostitution and religious conversion.
 
She alleged that Faiz continued to pressure her despite her refusal and used the private material as a means of threatening her.
 
Police are investigating these allegations as part of the case.
 
Woman alleges assault and death threats
 
The complaint also includes allegations of physical assault.
 
The woman alleged that Faiz assaulted her whenever she refused to follow his instructions. She further claimed that he threatened to kill her when she resisted.
 
The allegations have led police to investigate Faiz for offences including causing hurt, criminal intimidation and other acts mentioned in the complaint.
 
 
FIR registered under UP anti-conversion law
 
Police registered an FIR against Mohd Faiz under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
 
The FIR includes Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 351(3) for criminal intimidation, Section 303(2) relating to theft and Section 69, which deals with sexual intercourse with a woman by making a false promise of marriage.
 
Police have also invoked Sections 3 and 5 of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, in connection with the allegations of religious conversion.
