UP: 65-year-old Mohd Khalil booked for rape of 4-year-old girl; Exposed after girl came home bleeding

A four-year-old girl returned home crying and covered in blood after being taken to a neighbour’s house in a village under the Singahi police station area of Nighasan, Lakhimpur Kheri, on Sunday morning, September 6. Her family reported that the child had been lured with money and sexually assaulted. Police later took the accused, identified as Mohammad Khalil, into custody.

 

 

 

According to the girl’s family, she was playing near her home at around 8 a.m. when her neighbour, Mohammad Khalil, approached her and offered her money.

 

He then took the four-year-old to his house. After some time, the girl returned home frightened and with blood on her clothes. She tried to tell her family what had happened but soon became unconscious.

 

 

 

 

The girl’s relatives went to Mohammad Khalil’s house and questioned him about the incident. According to the family, he picked up a hoe, locally called a phawda, and chased them.

 

The family then called Dial 112. A Police Response Vehicle reached the village shortly afterwards and took Khalil into custody.

 

Police also began speaking to the girl’s family and local residents as part of the investigation.

 

 

 

The girl was first taken by ambulance to the Community Health Centre in Nighasan. Doctors gave her initial treatment and later referred her to the district hospital after assessing her condition.

 

She was subsequently referred to Lucknow for further medical treatment. Her medical examination is also expected to provide important evidence for the investigation.

 

The child’s treatment and safety remain the immediate priority as police work to establish exactly what happened.

 

 

Additional Superintendent of Police Pawan Gautam and Nighasan Circle Officer Shivam Kumar reached the area along with police personnel.

 

Teams from Singahi, Nighasan, Padua and Tikunia police stations were also deployed. A forensic team examined the place where the alleged incident took place and collected evidence.

 

Police officials also recorded the family’s statement and began speaking to other people who may have information about the case.

 

 

News of the assault led to anger among local residents. Villagers, along with members of Hindu organisations including the Bajrang Dal, gathered at the spot and blocked the Singahi-Nighasan road. Some reports have also referred to the route as the Singahi-Belrayan road.

 

The protesters demanded strict action against the accused. Some also called for bulldozer against his house.

 

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Yaduveer Singh and Additional SP Pawan Gautam reached the spot and spoke with the protesters.

 

After receiving the assurance, the protesters ended the blockade and traffic movement resumed.

 

 

Circle Officer Shivam Kumar said police received a Dial 112 call about the sexual assault of a four-year-old girl by a man in his sixties.

 

Police reached the village, took the accused into custody and arranged medical treatment for the child. The officer said further action would depend on the medical report and evidence collected during the investigation.

 

Police have registered a case and said procedures applicable to cases involving an alleged sexual offence against a minor are being followed.

 

Investigators are examining the medical findings, forensic evidence and statements from the girl’s family and other people who may have witnessed or have information about the incident.
